During the National Roll Call on the steps of Valdosta State University’s Student Union, a fallen warrior or battlefield cross was assembled. The fallen warrior display — created with a pair of boots, a rifle, dog tags and a helmet — is a symbolic replacement of a cross on the battlefield or at the base camp for a soldier who has been killed.
