Aflac Chairman and CEO Dan Amos said in a statement the company is pledging the funds to ensure that basic needs are cared for during the crisis.

Amos told the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer that there have been no reports of major injuries to the company’s Japan workforce, nor significant damage to the firm’s office buildings there.

Aflac, which employs nearly 4,000 people in Columbus, does about 70 percent of its business in Japan.
