VALDOSTA —
Valdosta State’s Nick Fogarty has been named the Gulf South Conference Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office Tuesday.
Fogarty won the award after pitching Valdosta State to its first victory of the season in a 3-0 shutout of Lynn on Saturday. The senior allowed just two hits and struck out a career-best 12 batters in six innings of work.
The first hit came in the first inning and the second came in the fourth, the only inning in which Fogarty allowed two base runners. He did not allow a base runner past second base in the game.
Fogarty and the Blazers return to action today at 5 p.m., when they travel to St. Augustine, Fla. to face Flagler in non-conference play.
