Blazer football opponents in 2013

VALDOSTA — The 2013 Valdosta State football schedule has not been released yet — and won't likely be for a few months — but we at least know the Blazers' opponents for next season.

A few dates for next season are known: The Blazers will have their bye week on the first week of the season, Aug. 31. They will open the season Sept. 7 at Fort Valley State. The Blazers will host Gulf South Conference rival North Alabama Oct. 26 at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium. That date is know because UNA has released its entire schedule for next season.

Like 2012, Valdosta State will play two schools based from Texas. The schools have not been released, although I hear they should be the same Texas-based opponents as 2012: Angelo State and Texas A&M-Kingsvillle.

Valdosta State will play a total of 10 games in 2013, five at home and five on the road.

Here are the home games (in no particular order): West Georgia, North Alabama, Shorter, UNC-Pembroke and a Texas school (likely Angelo State).

Here are the road games (again, in no particular order): Fort Valley State, West Alabama, Florida Tech, Delta State and a Texas school (believed to be Kingsville).

When the official schedule is released, or when someone hands it to me, I will get it out to everyone.
