VSU baseball rained out again, to play UWA today at 4 in Carrollton
Rain, rain, go away. Those are the words being voiced by nearly every member of the Gulf South Conference right about now, following three straight days of rain that forced the cancellation of the conference baseball tournament in two different locations.

Blazers to host South Region, face ASU Friday
The road to the national championship in the South Region must come through the home of the defending Division II national champion Valdosta State Blazers.
As expected, the nationally fourth-ranked Blazers were tabbed the top seed in the South Region, as announced through the NCAA website Monday morning, and will host the South Region Tournament this weekend. -

Valdosta State’s softball team claimed a record fifth straight Gulf South Conference tournament championship Sunday evening, erasing a 3-run deficit to beat arch-rival Alabama-Huntsville 4-3 in the championship game in Southaven, Miss.

The Gulf South Conference tournament is leaving Chattanooga, Tenn. and is heading to Carrollton, the home of the University of West Georgia.

VSU softball wins record fifth straight GSC championship
Valdosta State’s softball team claimed a record fifth straight Gulf south Conference tournament championship Sunday evening, erasing a 3-run deficit to beat archrival Alabama-Huntsville 4-3 in the championship game in Southaven, Miss.
The Blazers (41-10) became the first school in GSC-history to win five straight championships, a half-decade of dominance throughout the double-elimination tournament. -
VSU’s Gast hired at Parkview High
Valdosta State assistant head men’s basketball coach Nick Gast has accepted the head boys’ basketball coaching position at Parkview High School in Gwinnett County.
The former Blazer that went on to become a coach at his alma mater spent four seasons as the assistant coach under current head coach Mike Helfer. -
Blazers erase 4-run deficit, knock off DSU in 10th
Valdosta State scored six unearned runs, including two in the bottom of the 10th inning, to defeat No. 2 Delta State 6-5 in the second day of play at the Taziki's Gulf South Conference Tournament Friday evening.
With the win, Valdosta State has now won 23 of its last 27 games and will face West Alabama in the winner’s bracket of the GSC tournament today at 1 p.m. The winner will advance to the GSC championship series. -
VSU softball postponed due to rain
Steady rain and wet conditions have pushed the start time of the Gulf South Conference tournament to Saturday. No games will be played on Friday.

Blazers beat UNA in 12 innings
Jake Fields delivered a two-run single in the top of the 12th inning to lead Valdosta State to a 4-2 victory over North Alabama in the first round of the Taziki's Gulf South Conference Baseball Tournament at AT&T Field Thursday.
With the win, the Blazers, who have now won 22 of their last 26 games, will face either Delta State or Christian Brothers in today’s winner’s bracket.
Delta State and Christian Brothers faced off in the final game of the opening day and the game was not completed by time of press. -
VSU’s Albritton named GSC Player of Year
Courtney Albritton terrorized the Gulf South Conference as a freshman in 2012. She did it again in 2013.
The sophomore from Sycamore was named the Gulf South Conference Player of the Year Wednesday, an honor that was bestowed upon her as a freshman for the Valdosta State softball team last year. - More Blazers Blog Headlines
