VALDOSTA —
The City of Valdosta has temporarily lifted the Outdoor Water Restrictions put in place last Friday as a result of mechanical pump issues at the city’s Water Treatment plant.
“The cooperation of everyone who responded quickly to our request to cease all non-essential use of water is appreciated, as it allowed the city to maintain the desired amount of ground storage and elevated storage water tank levels for consumption and fire protection capabilities while temporary pump systems were installed and placed into service,” said Director of Utilities Henry Hicks.
The community will return to the Outdoor Water Use Schedule described in City of Valdosta Ordinance 2011-1, which allows daily outdoor watering for purposes of planting, growing, managing, or maintaining ground cover, trees, shrubs, or other plants only between the hours of 4 p.m. and 10 a.m. on days dictated by the citizen’s home address.
Outdoor watering will be allowed on odd/even days as follows:
· Odd-numbered addresses can water on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
· Even-numbered and unnumbered addresses are allowed to water on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
· No outdoor watering for the above stated purposes will be allowed on Sundays.
Outdoor watering restrictions will be put into place again temporarily at a later time to allow for permanent repairs to both well pumps. All citizens are strongly encouraged to still conserve and use irrigation water sparingly during the prescribed time periods.
