VALDOSTA -- Many local charities will benefit from the Home Builders Association of South Georgia's 2005 Silent Auction planned for 6:30 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Valdosta Country Club.
Silent bidding begins at 7 p.m., and live auction items are up for bid at 8:30. The attire is "Christmas Dressy" and partial proceeds will go to The Haven, The Children's Advocacy Center, the Home Builders Association Charitable Contributions Campaign and the George L. Nichols Scholarship Fund.
This will be the 17th year local Home Builders have joined together to support non-profit organizations through a December auction.
Last year, more than 100 local businesses contributed to the event's success by donating a variety of items including building materials like concrete and tools, free labor services, spa packages, vacations, interior decoration, exquisite crystal and beautiful jewelry. More than $7,000 was generated.
This year's event promises to feature the same exceptional variety featuring similar items as well as portrait and photography packages, dining gift certificates, sports memorabilia, hunting and fishing trips, Christmas items and much more. A goal of $10,000 has been set for the 2005 auction and it will not be met without participation from the community.
Auction committee members are accepting item donations and tickets are available to the public for $15 each. Heavy hors d'oeuvres will be served during the evening filled with dancing and bidding.
