Cartridge store to host open house

VALDOSTA — To solidify its mark in Valdosta after more than six months in business, Southern Printer Cartridge Supply is to host an open house Thursday followed by three printer giveaways throughout the tax-free weekend.

During the open house, the company, run by Donald Williams and Steve Coyne, will formally introduce itself and its services to the community. Guests can also enter a drawing for one of two HP printers to be given away between Thursday and Friday or a Dell 926 photo printer to be given away Saturday.

Although Southern Printer Cartridge Supply has only been in operation since the beginning of February, the company has already built quite a customer base, to which Williams credits quality service and convenient prices.

“Our primary business is ink-refilling and we have one of the most advanced ink-refilling systems around,” Williams said.

“We also help business owners save money on office expenses by offering remanufactured toner cartridges up to 50 percent cheaper than our competitors.”

When customers bring in their ink cartridges, they can purchase ready-to-go refills that are retested before they are sold and range from $8 to $12. The company also offers new HP DeskJet 1455 printers, HP DeskJet 1560 printers, HP Photosmart C4280 printers and HP Color LaserJet 1600 printers at up to 30 percent less than their retail values.

In addition, the store sells printer accessories that include regular copy and photo printing paper, USB cables, USB flash drives and memory cards.

“We now have an in-store copy machine that allows customers to make black and color copies on letter or legal size paper for only eight cents,” Williams said. “Customers can fax documents on the machine as well.”

Williams added that all students, teachers, firefighters, law enforcement personnel, EMT employees and active duty military and their dependents will receive a 10 percent discount on anything purchased in the store. He mentioned that free pick-up and delivery is available for all local business and Moody AFB customers as well.

Southern Printer Cartridge Supply can be found across from the new Remerton Square next door to Greek Row at 1412-C Baytree Road. The store is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • Business Wish List Results

The results are in from my very un-scientific poll on the businesses that people want to see come to Valdosta. After my comment last week that there seemed to be more requests for retail than restaurants, I was bombarded this week with restaurant suggestions, so I’m guessing even with an OG, readers aren’t quite satisfied yet.

VALDOSTA — The only way to describe The Brass Quill Gallery to someone who hasn’t witnessed the majesty of its interior is this: If Alice in Wonderland could be interpreted into a modern-day building decorated by the Mad Hatter — that’s The Brass Quill Gallery. It is arguably the most creative decorating scheme in Valdosta. It is because of the business’ unique style, that The Brass Quill Gallery is a metaphorical nest of creativity for those wanting to get inked.

  • BlackBerry’s Future?

BlackBerry used to be the “it” phone. Notice I said used to be. Just as video killed the radio star, iPhone killed the BlackBerry.
Blackberry has become the new “flip phone.” It’s ancient. It’s out of date and it can’t compete in the iPhone revolution of the smart(er) phone.
