Back to school, back to school, to prove to daddy that I’m not a fool ...

VALDOSTA — Did anyone go to the Valdosta Mall on tax-free weekend? It was like someone dropped a cow in a tank of piranhas! Maybe it was the Chick-Fil-A cow (wink) ... Just kidding! Anyway, even though the back-to-school frenzy shopping is finished, there are still a lot of great back-to-school sales. This means that right now, there is no reason to pay full price for anything!

Jeans

Be sure to go the websites of your favorite retailers to check out the deals they have on blue jeans. Being the most expensive back-to-school clothing expense, several high-end, teen clothing stores offer jeans as much as 50 percent off.

If you’re paying more than $50 for jeans, then you’re getting ripped off.

Big Sales

Because a lot of retailers stocked up more than usual for the tax-free weekend, that means they are trying to push the overhead that didn’t get bought.

You will see clearance in some stores being marked as much as 80 percent off and a lot of stores offering store-wide sales.

Shoes

Shoes are always the hardest thing to find on sale because retailers know that you’re having to buy shoes every other week for your growing kids!

If you can’t find the prices you’re looking for in the stores, be sure to check online. There are some retailers that are even offering deals online that you will not see in the store. Be sure to do your homework before paying full price.

I also found this great website, backtoschool2012.com. They have tabs of nearly 60 stores, and when you click on them, they list all the sales going on in the one store and provide links to where they are located online.

They also offer awesome reviews on items such as tablets and laptops. The founder of this website doesn’t know it yet, but I am electronically knighting them as an official budgeteer. It’s going to be magical.

I have so much more I want to tell you about, but alas, I’m busy, busy, busy being a grown up and working, and cleaning and playing Farmville (I assume that’s what adults do, because God knows I am far from that point).

Don’t forget to check me out on Facebook for the latest tips and deals around town at www.facebook.com/BrittanysBudgetDiary and look me up on Twitter @VDT_Brittany. It is your duty as a budgeteer to spread the word of our journey through social media.

I don’t make the rules, I just play the game ... OK, yeah I make the rules but that changes nothing! Until next time, happy shopping.
