ADEL — On Tuesday, Oct. 20, the Adel-Cook County Chamber of Commerce will present a free seminar for chamber members to educate them on how to prevent employee and identity theft, fraud and embezzlement.
According to the Department of Justice statistics, one-third of all employees commit some degree of employee theft. Additionally, according to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, employee theft costs businesses $40 billion in annual losses nationwide, which is 10 times the value of street crime losses for the same period of time.
The Adel-Cook County Chamber will educate its members about these crimes, what the signs are and how to prevent them. The seminar will be presented by Sharon Harnage at Quick Consulting and Business Services.
The event will take place from 11:45 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Oct. 20 at IHOP, 1200 W. 4th St., Adel.
To guarantee a seat, those interested in attending should contact the Adel-Cook County Chamber of Commerce by 5 p.m. on Oct. 19.
