ATLANTA —
Nathan Deal and Roy Barnes were crisscrossing Georgia by plane drumming up support on the eve of Tuesday’s general election.
Deal, a Republican, kicked off his flyaround on Monday in Atlanta and then hit Columbus, Macon, Tifton, Savannah and Augusta.
Democrat Barnes began in Dalton and then touched down in Augusta, Savannah, Albany, Valdosta, Columbus and Atlanta.
The two are battling to replace Gov. Sonny Perdue, who is barred by term limits from running again.
Barnes has been hammering home his central themes of education and jobs as well as arguing he would lead the state without scandal. Deal says he’s a conservative leader who’d create a business-friendly climate to spur the state’s sluggish economy.
Libertarian John Monds is also on the ballot for governor.
