VALDOSTA —
The numbers are in and the people have declared Ben H. Norton winner of the Valdosta City Council at Large seat.
With 52.97 percent of the votes, or 891 votes, Norton defeated John L. Eunice III who received 47.03 percent of the votes, or 791 votes.
Shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Board of Elections, Norton was joined by his wife and a handful of supporters when the results came in.
“I am very humbled and grateful for all the support I received during this campaign,” he said. “I would like to especially thank my wife, campaign supporters and the citizens of Valdosta who voted for me. I will definitely do my best to represent the people and work well with the mayor and city council.”
Norton’s main platform is looking forward to what Valdosta can offer to businesses and what businesses can do to keep people in Valdosta. He said he plans to enhance the business process because people need jobs.
