NASHVILLE — Emergency personnel responded Wednesday night to a residential fire and sounds of explosions coming from inside of the residence.

At approximately 8 p.m., firefighters with the Berrien County Fire Department along with the Nashville Fire Department and Emergency Management Agency Director Mike Hand were dispatched to a fire on Brogdon Road in the River City area of Berrien County.

Firefighters saved one end of the house. Berrien County Fire Chief Carlos Vickers said it was not a total loss, but would have to be rebuilt. Vickers added that a neighbor saw the fire and reported it.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Vickers said the explosion sounds were possibly due to ammunition in the house.

No one was home at the time. No injuries or damages to surrounding properties were reported.
