VALDOSTA —
Contractors for the Georgia Department of Transportation will perform major reconstruction of Interstate 75 at different locations between Exit 37/Adel-Old Quitman Road and the Crisp/Dooly County line.
To ensure motorist and contractor safety, this work will warrant lane closures and traffic shifts along this section of I-75, which could cause short delays. However, there are no lane closures scheduled from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Georgia DOT reports the following construction activities are tentatively planned through March 25:
COOK/TIFT: The I-75/Exit 41 northbound on ramp has been temporarily closed to traffic. A signed detour route is being utilized and has been marked.
This ramp closure is being utilized to allow the replacement of the railroad overpass bridge on I-75 north.
I-75 northbound traffic has recently been shifted between mile marker 39 and mile marker 60 to allow for new construction.
This project requires much of the project shoulders to be temporarily closed with barrier walls.
Emergency pull offs have been provided at various locations throughout the project between mile marker 39 and mile marker 60.
Motorists may encounter night time lane closures on I-75 south between mile marker 53 and mile marker 59.
CRISP: The I-75 northbound Exit 102 off ramp has been relocated. Motorists should pay special attention to the new exit signs.
Construction activities could include lane closures from Exit 99/SR 300 to the Dooly County line.
This project requires much of the project shoulders to be temporarily closed with barrier walls.
Emergency pull offs will be provided at various locations throughout the project between the Crisp/Dooly County line and mile marker 98.
The Georgia DOT notes that the above construction schedules are proposed activities planned by the contractors and may change due to weather conditions or other factors.
As in any work zone, motorists are reminded to pay special attention to traffic control devices, signs and posted speed limits to ensure safe passage through the work zone.
Georgia DOT urges travelers to call 511 for updated information about this or any other construction project on interstates and state routes.
Georgia 511 is a free phone service that provides real-time traffic and travel information statewide, such as traffic conditions, incidents, lane closures, and delays due to inclement weather.
Callers also can transfer to operators to request assistance or report incidents 24 hours a day, seven days a week. More information is available at www.511ga.org.
The Georgia Department of Transportation is committed to providing a safe, seamless and sustainable transportation system that supports Georgia’s economy and is sensitive to both its citizens and its environment.
Additional transportation revenues are imperative to grow and sustain Georgia's economic vitality and quality of life through the 21st Century. Georgia is the 3rd fastest-growing state in the nation, yet 49th in per capita spending on transportation.
