VALDOSTA —
Just short of 1,000 citizens came out to see the booths set up by 42 vendors during The Valdosta Daily Times’ ninth annual Senior Living Showcase at the James H. Rainwater Conference Center on Saturday morning, according to the event coordinator.
The free event featured a smorgasbord of senior-oriented services, which were demonstrated by the vendors at each booth before the eager patrons. Services showcased ranged from fitness and health care packages to assisted living and home care solution.
“This was the biggest Senior Showcase event so far,” said event coordinator Rachel Thrasher-Noles as her colleagues nodded in agreement. “I’d like to thank all of the vendors for participating. We’re really looking forward to next year, and hope for an even bigger turnout.”
Noles will likely need a bigger cache of gift bags for next year’s event. She said she counted a large number of people who weren’t fortunate enough to pick up one of 800 bags that
the staff had prepared.
“The seniors that came through here today were extremely interested in what was going on, and they were really receptive to new things,” said Danny Jones at the Advanced Hearing Solutions booth. “They made sure that they spent a lot of time checking out each vendor’s booth.”
Several hundred patrons still lingered as the showcase came to a close a bit later than the 1 p.m. end time. Citizens seemed eager to converse with new faces and share their take on the vendors and the booths of the four-hour showcase.
