VALDOSTA — Pups across town are gearing up for the fourth annual Hottest Dogs in the Park event taking place this Saturday at Drexel Park.

The event, held in honor of National Hot Dog Month, features contests for best groomed, most adorable, most talented, owner/dog look-a-like, most creative costume and “a face only a mother could love.” All dogs are entered in the youngest / oldest contest. Registration fees are $6 for three entries and $10 for all categories. The $6 entry fee proceeds will be donated to the Humane Society.

Monty, Valdosta’s renowned fire safety dog, will be present, and Jessie’s Eats and Treats will be selling hot dogs for hungry pet owners. There will be pet-friendly prizes for contest winners. Participants are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and sunscreen.

The event kicks off at 9:30 a.m. with a 9:15 a.m. deadline for check-in. The pre-registration deadline is Wednesday, with registration available on the day of the event.

In the event of showers, the event will be held on July 22.
