Lowndes County
State troopers from the Valdosta Post of the Georgia State Patrol investigated 97 traffic crashes in May in Lowndes County. Sgt. 1st Class L. Carl Taylor said the traffic crashes resulted in 47 injuries and one traffic death.
Taylor said troopers from Post 31 also issued 500 traffic citations. The total includes 14 arrests for driving under the influence, 224 citations for speeding, 76 seat belt violations, and seven child restraint violations. Troopers also issued 433 warnings.
Echols County
State troopers from the Valdosta Post of the Georgia State Patrol investigated two traffic crashes in of May in Echols County.
Taylor said troopers from Post 31 also issued 26 traffic citations in the county during the month. The total includes 12 citations for speeding, one seat belt violation and one child restraint violation. Troopers also issued 34 warnings.
Lanier County
State troopers from the Valdosta Post of the Georgia State Patrol investigated six traffic crashes in May in Lanier County. Sgt. 1st Class L. Carl Taylor said the traffic crashes resulted in 12 injuries.
Taylor said troopers from Post 31 also issued 57 traffic citations in the county during the month. The total includes one arrest for driving under the influence, 26 citations for speeding, eight seat belt violations and five child restraint violations. Troopers also issued 61 warnings.
Brooks County
State troopers from the Valdosta Post of the Georgia State Patrol investigated 16 traffic crashes in May in Brooks County. Sgt. 1st Class L. Carl Taylor said the traffic crashes resulted in 10 injuries and one death.
Taylor said troopers from Post 31 also issued 96 traffic citations. The total includes one arrest for driving under the influence, 35 citations for speeding, 20 seat belt violations, and five child restraint violation. Troopers also issued 95 warnings.
Clinch County
The Georgia State Patrol at Waycross announced that four traffic accidents in Clinch County were investigated during the month of May. These accidents resulted in four injuries and one death.
In the area of enforcement by Post 22, Sergeant First Class T.L. King said his troopers had made 16 arrests and issued 12 warnings during the month.
Cook County
State troopers from the Tifton post of the Georgia State Patrol investigated 22 traffic crashes in May in Cook County. Sgt. 1st Class R.M. Harrelson said the traffic crashes resulted in 18 injuries.
Harrelson said troopers from Post 13 also issued 281 traffic citations in the country during the month. The total includes 10 arrests for driving under the influence, 135 citations for speeding, 46 seat belt violations and nine child restraint violations. Troopers also issued 224 warnings.

Charges filed in bomb threat made from jail
A pair of inmates received additional charges this week when they reportedly phoned a bomb threat from the Lowndes County Jail to South Georgia Medical Center Tuesday, according to the Valdosta Police Department.
