Nashville men shot

VALDOSTA — Two Nashville men were shot in two separate incidents over the last week and the Nashville Police Department has been hard at work investigating.

On Friday, Oct. 12 around 5:30 p.m., Nashville police were dispatched to the intersection of Marion Avenue and Mathis Street near Blue Flame nightclub after a report that a man had been shot, according to a press release submitted by Nashville Police Chief John Clayton.

When they arrived on the scene, authorities were told that the 22-year-old victim had gotten into the vehicle of a family member and was transported to the emergency room at Berrien County Hospital. The victim, a Nashville resident, was then transported to the Tift General Hospital and later released.

At 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nashville police were informed of another shooting near the Hull Avenue complex of the Nashville Housing Authority. When Nashville police and Berrien County EMS arrived, they discovered a man in the middle of Griner Street bleeding from a single gunshot wound to the chest.

The 21-year-old victim, also a Nashville resident, was transported to Tift General Hospital, treated and released Thursday.

It is unclear at this time whether the two shootings are related. Chief John Clayton has asserted that both incidents remain under investigation and urges anyone with information to call the Nashville Police Department at (229) 686-6558.
