VALDOSTA — The Azalea Masonic Lodge 716 is selling Christmas trees with proceeds going to help the lodge’s charitable work year-round.
The lodge ordered 350 trees this year to sell in the lot past Five Points on North Oak Street Extension by the Wendy’s, said Tim Baker, a lodge member.
The lodge plans to sell the trees until the 350 are gone.
There are various sized trees, most about the four to five feet for a household, with others ranging from 14-20 feet for churches and organizations, Baker said.
Prices vary, depending on a tree’s size, with most ranging from $40-$60.
The Fraser firs arrived Wednesday, cut in Elkhart, Va., some of the trees still having ice in their branches at the time of arrival by truck, Baker said.
Proceeds from the trees will aid the lodge in its charitable work which includes the American Cancer Society, an orphans home in Macon, help to individuals, such as a wheelchair for a child with spinal bifida, Baker says.
The lodge has been holding the Christmas tree sale for about 20 years.
