North Oak Street Extension will be closed today and Friday for emergency road repairs. A detour will be set up, and the road will be barricaded. The closure will be west of Lake Laurie Drive.
The detour route will be at Cherry Creek Road and North Oak Street, and an alternative route will be at North Oak Street and Lake Laurie Drive.
Local traffic may travel eastbound to the road closure, and access to the apartment complexes off North Oak Street Extension will be maintained. The closure will be at the creek, and no through traffic will be allowed today or Friday.
Lowndes County requests that this area be avoided if possible.
The road is expected to reopen late Friday afternoon.
This action is regrettable but absolutely necessary for the safety of the traveling public.
Motorists are urged to exercise caution when traveling in the area and heed traffic control devices.
Any questions may be directed to Lowndes County Engineering at 671-2424.
