Snow is in the forecast for Valdosta-Lowndes County Library patrons this Saturday from 3-5 p.m. Ten tons of real snow will be delivered to the library by Adel Ice as part of the library’s third annual Snow Day event.
“I spend the month of December reading to the kids stories about snowmen, but many have never even seen snow. Then, in January when we have our annual Snow Day, I see the children’s faces light up as all those stories come alive,” Suzie Butts, library children’s co-coordinator, said.
Previous years boasted only half the amount of snow as this year, but, through a generous donation by Dr. Ken Register and Adel Ice, the library was able to double the amount of snow this year. The additional snow will allow for separate play areas for small children and older children.
After playing in the snow, participants will be able to warm themselves up with hot chocolate provided by the Friends of the Library and brownies from Chick-fil-A.
The South Georgia Regional Library System is comprised of six branches, housing over 200,000 books. The library also offers high-speed internet access, a talking book center for the visually impaired and GED classes. The Valdosta-Lowndes County Library is located at 300 Woodrow Wilson Drive.
