More drug arrests made

South Georgia Drug Task Force continues undercover operation

On Jan. 6, South Georgia Drug Task Force agents arrested two additional defendants in their ongoing undercover drug operation in Clinch County. Arrested were Willie Antonio Williams and Torrence Williams, both of Homerville, according to reports.

Both men were charged with sale of crack cocaine to undercover task force and GBI agents, according to reports. The task force was assisted in making the arrests by Clinch County Sheriff’s Office deputies.

The task force continues to identify other defendants in connection with its most recent drug sweep and anticipates additional arrests in the future.

On Jan. 7, South Georgia Drug Task Force agents arrested two additional defendants in connection with their most recent drug takedown in Cook County. Xavier Rashaun Smith and Anthony Jerome Johnson Jr., both of Sparks, were arrested for sale of cocaine, according to reports.

The Sparks Police Department and Cook County Sheriff's Office assisted task force agents with the arrests. More arrests are expected as additional defendants are identified.

On Jan. 8, South Georgia Drug Task Force agents, along with Sparks police officers and Cook County deputies, executed a search warrant at 401 Fourth St. in Sparks, the home of Jeffery “JJ” Franklin, according to reports. Task force agents seized powder cocaine, marijuana and two firearms. One of the guns was a sawed-off shotgun, which is illegal to possess in Georgia, as well as a stolen .45 caliber pistol, according to reports.

Also at the residence was Lashaya Ross Franklin and Alexander Wooten of a Fifth Street address also in Sparks, according to reports.

Jeffery and Lashaya Franklin were charged with possession of a sawed-off shotgun, possession of stolen property, and possession of marijuana and cocaine with intent to distribute, according to reports. Wooten was charged with possession of marijuana and cocaine with intent to distribute, according to reports. All three were transported to the Cook County jail and processed.
