Accident kills Ray City man

By Malynda Fulton

BERRIEN COUNTY — A motorcycle accident claimed the life of a Ray City man in Berrien County Thursday.

At 4:45 p.m., Georgia State Patrol troopers from Post 13 in Tifton responded to Teeterville Highway to find 52-year-old Leonard G. Robertson Jr. dead from injuries he sustained during the one-vehicle accident.

Reports state that Robertson was traveling north when he lost control on a curve and traveled off of the west side of the road. The motorcycle he was riding then entered a ditch, struck a culvert and flew into the air, landing on its rear.

Robertson was ejected from the motorcycle, reports state.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Troopers said that, at this time, it does not appear that Robertson was speeding at the time of his accident.

Robertson was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Leonard G. Robertson and Anne Duncan Robertson. He was an iron worker employed with Pinnacle Prime of Valdosta. He was an avid motorcyclist.

Robertson is survived by both of his parents, a daughter and son-in-law, two grandchildren, one brother, two sisters, three best friends, two favorite aunts and four dogs.

A memorial service is to be held 1 p.m. Monday in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services.
