VALDOSTA —
For one day Valdosta experienced a “white winter.” It didn’t snow on Saturday, but the James H. Rainwater Conference Center was bouncing with soon-to-be brides from all over the area who were attending the Steel’s Jewelry South Georgia Bridal Expo.
“I like it,” said newly engaged, Sarah Thompson. “It’s been a good experience.”
The Times caught up with Thompson at the booth of The Season’s, florists out of Quitman who do more than just pretty flower arrangements.
“We’re a flower shop but we also do full-scale productions,” said James Bednar, President of The Seasons.
This was Bednar’s third time doing the Bridal Expo in Valdosta and according to him, no other bridal show can even begin to compare.
“This is the best show in the whole are,” said Bednar.
According to Bednar, this show helps book them every weekend from now until March.
One of the most popular booths at the show belonged to Yes, It’s Cake! from Adel. They displayed a tower of glittering cupcakes that were donned with tiny, frosted brides and grooms.
“I love it,” said bride-to-be, Katherine Dickert as she displayed the beautifully crafted cupcakes. “We’ve been looking for a cake.”
The only people who appeared to be more excited than the brides at the Expo were the flower girls who accompanied them. For example, one little girl named Isabelle Texada, age 3, was admiring the beautiful and colorful jewelry at the Stella & Dot booth.
“She’s going to be a flower girl princess,” said Isabelle’s aunt.
Not only were brides and their guests able to admire beautiful gowns at booths such as Vocelles The Bridal Shop, but the Expo also featured a show of bridal fashion hosted by Sylvia Selph of Sylvia’s Models and Talent Agency. The show exhibited wedding gowns and bridesmaids dresses from Lezlie’s Bridal, Rudines Bridal Boutique, Tallahassee Bridal and Vocelles -The Bridal Shop of Tallahassee. The show also exhibited models wearing cruise-ware for the honeymoon from Belk and Wilson Eye Center.
According to several vendors and the smiles on all the bride’s faces, the show was a success.
