VALDOSTA — Richard Raines of 4306 Swan Drive announced his bid to replace retiring Richard Lee on the Lowndes County Board of Commissioners for the 2nd District.
Raines, a Republican and former religion columnist for The Valdosta Daily Times, says that his occupation within the pharmaceutical industry gives him a unique perspective on the health care and high tech jobs he thinks should be strongly recruited to Valdosta and Lowndes County — an issue, he says, that will remain the central theme of his candidacy. A series of “virtual town hall meetings” via the social networking site Facebook are planned to solicit insight from local residents.
Raines and his wife, Jessica, have five children and are active members of CrossPointe Church. The candidate is an active member of the Heritage Foundation, the NRA, the Little River Sportsmen’s Association and continues his work as a freelance writer.
