LAKE PARK —
Authorities have released more details on the non-fatal collision between a sedan and church van that occurred Friday evening near the intersection of U.S. Highway 41 and Melrose Road.
There were no fatalities related to the crash, according to a report from the Georgia State Patrol, but 11 of the 12 motorists involved in the collision suffered injuries and all parties were transported to South Georgia Medical Center.
Three motorists were inside the car during the accident and nine people were traveling in the 1997 Dodge Ram 3500 van which bore the decal of Live Oak, Fla.’s St. John Holiness Church,” reports stated.
The car, a 1989 Pontiac 6000 LE, had been headed south on U.S. Highway 41, State Route 7, and was attempting to make a left turn onto Melrose Road, reports stated.
The northbound van collided with the turning car despite the van driver’s efforts to navigate around it, reports stated.
Charges have been filed against both drivers involved in the collision, which was still under investigation when the Georgia State Patrol released the preliminary report.
The car’s driver, Sandra Stephens, is charged with failure to yield while turning left and the van’s driver, Amarcus McMillian, is charged with driving while license suspended or revoked, according to reports.
