VALDOSTA —
It was an “all about me” day at the James H. Rainwater Conference Center Saturday as 71 vendors were focused on today’s woman.
The Valdosta Daily Times presented the Head to Toe Women’s Show and did not lack on the hippest, hottest fashions adorning women of all ages.
Upon entering the front doors, the bling and eye-catching booths just prepared the attendees for what was to come. Wall-to-wall vendors drew the shopping hopefuls in with bright, bold colors, zebra print designs, sparkling jewels, decorated flip-flops and crafty handbags.
Stephanie Brown of Adel said the fashion definitely caught her eye, and she did not anticipate the show being as big as it was.
“I was surprised,” Brown said. “I like that they had a lot of independent vendors. I mainly came for some makeup and makeup tips. I especially enjoyed the fashion show by Amanda’s Models. It gave me some ideas for my own daughter. The show was perfect.”
The petite woman said the only thing she would add to a future event would be more cosmetics vendors.
Also attending Saturday’s event from Orlando, Fla., was Starsha Close. She said she was in town visiting family and decided to see what the event was all about.
“I like everything about it,” Close smiled. “I just think there could be more of a variety in the future, but I definitely would not take anything away from what was here today.”
Included in the first-time event were Girardin Jewelers, The Vixen Boutique, BCB, Rockin Robin’s Boutique, Glamour Shots, King Frog Clothing and more.
Lynn Williams of King Frog Clothing said this was the first time attending a selling event outside of the store, and she thought it went pretty well. She also said if the event continues, they will participate again. The Adel clothing store has been in business for nearly 40 years and offers both men’s and women’s clothing.
Even though the event was designed for the female persuasion, there were some supportive men alongside their partners. Duane Riley of Columbia, S.C., attended as a two-part obligation.
“I’m here to support my daughter-in-law, Christie Godwin (nurse practitioner for Healthsource Medical Clinic) and my wife, Mary,” Riley said, smiling.
Healthsource Medical was among the vendors filling up the conference room Saturday. The proud father-in-law said he helped Godwin set up the booth the night before the event and would do it again. He was not the least bit uncomfortable about being among so many women.
“I have no problem coming to these events.” Riley said. “I am very comfortable around women. I am also very impressed with the whole event. There are a lot of good displays.”
In addition to bragging about his daughter-in-law, Riley was also very proud in telling The Times that his wife was going to be the weight loss model for the clinic.
Jeff Masters, The Times’ publisher, said he was happy with both the turnout and the representation of some of the best businesses the area has to offer.
Included in the women’s event was a fashion show by Amanda’s Models and Talent, a Zumba presentation and a mini-health awareness seminar.
