The fall season will descend upon South Georgia in just a few short months, bringing with it school, football and, of course, hunting.
Talon Outdoors LLC sponsors hunting activities throughout the year for disabled veterans and sportsmen. The organization has been around for several years, but this will be the first year it has conducted a fund-raiser, said Tim Keller, founder.
The proceeds raised during the Thursday, Aug. 5 Wheelin’ Sportsmen and Talon Outdoors Gun Gala and Banquet will help the group provide some of the necessities needed when one goes hunting.
The banquet will feature a full buffet dinner starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn. Dinner tickets are $25 per person or $175 for a table that seats eight.
The cost of the dinner tickets covers the cost of the meal, Keller said.
The funds Talon Outdoors will receive will come through a silent auction.
During the silent auction, attendees will have the opportunity to bid on hunting blinds, deer stands, paintings, quail hunts, deer and turkey hunts.
Keller said, a minimum of 15 guns will be raffled.
Also at the fundraiser, volunteers, landowners and sponsors will be honored for their support of Talon Outdoors.
“It’s good camaraderie and fellowship,” David Thomas said. “We get together and have a good time. That makes it all worthwhile.”
Del Glenn agrees. Being a part of Talon Outdoors and taking part in the activities has forged lasting friendships for the United States Air Force veteran.
“It’s developing into a little community,” Keller said. No monetary goal has been set for the fundraiser. Keller just hopes people come out and experience the event, learn more about Talon Outdoors and maybe go home with a piece of hunting equipment or a hunting trip.
