RAY CITY —
Several gambling machines were seized along with cash and various documents stemming from a reported gambling operation inside of a convenience store in this Berrien County town, according to the Ray City Police Department.
This week, authorities served a search warrant on the Ray City Corner Market on Patten Avenue, said Ray City Police Chief Roy Bamburg.
No arrests were made during the raid, said Bamburg who added the case is part of an on-going probe into the illegal gambling racket.
“A lot of people knew of others who were losing their monthly income on the machines in the store,” said Bamburg. “That prompted me to open an investigation into it a while back, which resulted in a search warrant and the seizure of several machines.”
Citizens having any additional information on this incident or any other crimes are encouraged to contact the Ray City Police Department, (229) 455-4921; or the Berrien County Sheriff's Office, (229) 686-7071.
