Three vehicles were involved in an accident on Madison Highway Monday afternoon at around 3:30 p.m., according to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Chris Kelch. A black Suburban traveling north crossed the centerline and struck a southbound Ford F-350 and camper trailer driven by David Grant of Perry, Fla., Kelch said. His wife, Dawn Grant, was following her husband in a silver Toyota Prius and was struck head-on by the Suburban after the initial collision, he said. The Grants were taken to South Georgia Medical Center where Dawn Grant, who suffered several broken bones and other injuries, was later transported via life-flight to Shands hospital in Gainesville, Fla., Kelch said. David Grant received lacerations to his face from the broken glass, he said. The driver of the suburban, whose identity has not been released, was flown directly from the scene to Tallahassee Memorial, Kelch said. All three were reported to be in stable condition at press time. A firefighter on the scene was also taken to the hospital by squad car after complaining of chest pains. Charges are pending further
investigation, Kelch said.
