Verdict in wrongful death lawsuit

ALBANY — A Lowndes County jury awarded the family of 22-year-old Cleve Bostick of Camilla $1.5 million in a wrongful death lawsuit arising out of Bostick’s death in Mexico Beach, Fla.

Attorneys Patrick Millsaps of Camilla and Charlie Peeler and Paul Phillips of Albany represented the family in the four-day jury trial.

Bostick died on Aug. 13, 2006, in Mexico Beach of injuries sustained after being struck by a Ford F-350 truck driven by David Phelps, also of Camilla.

“This was a terrible tragedy. Cleve Bostick was a wonderful young man with a very bright future. We were honored to represent his family during such a difficult time,” said Peeler.

The defendant is serving a four-year prison sentence in Florida.
