VALDOSTA — Two Valdosta Middle School students were recently arrested on separate assault and drug incidents.

On Feb. 4, Valdosta police were dispatched to the school, located at 110 Burton Ave., after receiving a report of drugs on the premises.

A 13-year-old student was arrested after a small amount of marijuana was found in the student’s possession, said Valdosta Police Capt. Bobbi McGraw. The student, whose name cannot be released, is charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession and turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ).

On Feb. 8, a 14-year-old male student was arrested for physically striking and pushing a female teacher, McGraw said.

“The teacher was not seriously injured during this incident,” McGraw added.

The juvenile was arrested and turned over to the DJJ. He has been charged with battery and disruption of a public school, Capt. McGraw said.

Because of the holiday, no one from Valdosta City Schools was available to comment on the incidents at press time Monday.
