VALDOSTA —
The first week of advance voting was a strong one in Lowndes County, as more than a thousand voters cast their ballots.
Between Monday morning and Friday afternoon, July 9 to the 13th, a total of 1,126 registered voters visited the Elections Office to vote in the primary election, with 14 non-partisan, 323 Democrats and 789 Republicans.
With 59,693 registered voters in Lowndes County, this number only reflects a little less than two percent of the voting population.
However, given that primaries typically attract a much smaller number of voters than a general election, it is still a strong start for advance voting.
Advance and early voting will continue until July 27 at the Elections Office on North Oak St. Election day is Tuesday, July 31.
Editor’s Note: On Sunday, July 29, the Valdosta Daily Times will publish a voter’s guide to the local election with additional candidate interviews and profiles of the local races. Primary election day is Tuesday, July 31.
