LAKE PARK — Authorities continue to search for a man wanted for robbing a bank Thursday.
Around 3:50 p.m., a white male walked into the Park Avenue Bank branch at 1012 Lakes Boulevard and handed a teller a note reading, “This is a robbery,” Lowndes County Sheriff Chris Prine said.
The offender did not display a weapon.
Bank employees reportedly cooperated with the offender, who fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money in an unknown direction, Prine said.
No one was injured during the robbery.
Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the scene shortly after the incident was reported.
Prine said that investigators covered the area in an attempt to locate the offender.
At press time, they were unsuccessful.
Thursday afternoon authorities were reviewing a recording of the robbery from Park Avenue Bank’s surveillance system.
The suspect is described as standing between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing roughly 150 pounds.
He was wearing a maroon fleece jacket, blue jeans, white shoes, a hood and sunglasses at the time of the robbery, Prine said. Anyone with information about the robbery is urged to call the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office at (229) 671-2900.
