Moody AFB celebrates at Magnolia Grove

The Valdosta Daily Times — MOODY AIR FORCE BASE — A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Monday at Moody Air Force Base’s Magnolia Grove privatized housing project, located about half of a mile from the base’s south gate on Bemiss Road.

The ceremony celebrated the dedication of Magnolia Grove, which consists of 50 homes occupied by Moody AFB personnel, and of the recently completed amenities package, said Patricia Brempell, investment manager for Pinnacle American Management Company.

The amenities package includes a soccer field, a basketball court, a playground area and equipment for children and a pavilion. It was completed at a cost of approximately $104,000, Brempell said. She said that 206 units in the Quiet Pines housing development across from Moody AFB would be undergoing renovation as well.

“We want to keep moving forward to take better care of our military families,” Brempell said.

“I’m not just speaking as the commander,” said Col. Gary W. Henderson, commander of Moody’s 23rd Wing. “This is my neighborhood. I live here as well. When we provide nice places for our airmen to live, it allows them to continue to deploy and do the things they need to do.”

Following the ceremony, attendees enjoyed cake and punch and were given a tour of one of the homes, occupied by Master Sgt. Thomas Jones and his wife, Erin.
