VALDOSTA — The Valdosta Home Builders Association will hold its fourth annual reverse raffle and auction Saturday at the Elks Lodge, 2309 Highway 84.
Proceeds from the event will benefit The Haven, Valdosta-Lowndes County Habitat for Humanity and the Pearlman Comprehensive Cancer Center, said HBA Director Jill Pope.
Ticket holders and their guests will gather from 7 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. for food and music, to bid on valuable merchandise and to see who bought the lucky ticket that will earn them the top prize of $5,000.
Only 350 tickets will be sold, and tickets may be purchased at the Home Builders Association office or from any event committee member, Pope said. Tickets are $75 each and entitle ticket holders and a guest to enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar and live music by Ken and Stephanie Franks, as well as to participate in the live and silent auctions and the chance to win $5,000 and other cash prizes, she said.
The first ticket will be drawn at 7:30 p.m. and drawings will continue until 9:30 p.m. when the person holding the $5,000 winning ticket is announced. The live and silent auctions will be going on concurrently with the drawing.
“As the night progresses,” she said, “the suspense builds, and when we get down to the last 10 tickets, that’s when it really gets interesting.”
Auction items are still being accepted, Pope said. Ticket holders need not be present to win, but will be notified by phone if they aren’t present when their number is called. Winners must present their ticket when they pick up any prize monies and will have 10 business days to pick up their winnings before they are declared void.
