VALDOSTA — The “Four Pals” series of children’s books feature four youngsters who have different personalities.
There’s David, the Dominant personality (D); Iris the Inspiring personality (I); Summer the Supportive personality (S); Charlie the Cautious personality (C). All four characters are in each of the series’ four books, but each of the four books places the spotlight on one of the “Four Pals.”
Each book is “An Adventure with Friends who are Different,” revealing to youngsters that there are other kids like them and that children with different personality types can be friends.
These books are by Angel Tucker and Dr. Robert A. Rohm, who teaches people about the D-I-S-C (dominant, inspiring, supportive, cautious) model of human behavior. Steve Pileggi illustrated each book.
Tucker lives in Valdosta. She describes herself as the wife of Dennis Tucker, an Air Force officer at Moody Air Force Base; mom to four children, Danielle, Chase, Hannah, and Elijah; a national speaker/trainer traveling professionally across the U.S. for the past 18 years; a certified human-behavior consultant; owner of Personality Profiles; a corporate trainer; a national Christian speaker; a published author; and the creator of the “Four Pals” children’s book series.
The “Four Pals” books were released in September. USA Book News named the first book, “Four Pals at the Park,” as a 2009 Best Book Award Winner.
Tucker teaches adults the D-I-S-C model of human behavior.
She wanted to find a way to teach the method to children.
She hit upon the idea of a children’s book series. Rohm suggested that each book focus on a different personality type.
They plan to release a new series of “Four Pals” children’s books annually.
The reason for the children’s series is simple.
“I want children to understand that God made us different and made us different for a reason,” Tucker said.
She is introducing the books to area school systems with plans to bring them to schools across the nation. This month, the books will be available during events at area Chick-Fil-A restaurants.
Angel Tucker’s “Four Pals” book series will be available, 4-9 p.m. Tuesday, Chick-Fil-A, St. Augustine Road; and 5-8 p.m., Dec. 15, Chick-Fil-A, Lake Park. Price: $24.95 for the set; $8.95 for the book. The books are also available at personalityinsights.com; amazon.com; Potter’s House.
