Area natives complete basic military training
Air Force Airman James F. Everett Jr. graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
He is the son of Darlene and Jimmy Lehman of Valdosta.
Everett is a 2007 graduate of Lowndes High School.
Air Force Airman Joseph A. Hardeman graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
He is the son of Michelle Gaines of Lake Park, Ga., and Stephen Methot of Island Park, N.Y.
Hardeman is a 2009 graduate of Lowndes High School.
Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Dustin A. Mallory graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
He is the son of Carol and David Mallory of Walker, Iowa, and brother of DJ Mallory of Valdosta, Ga.
Mallory is a 2009 graduate of Open Bible Christian School, Valdosta.
2LT Daryle “The Pain Train” Palmer (fullback for VSU Blazers NCAA Division II National Championship Teams 2004 and 2007) has graduated from basic military training at Fort Jackson, S.C., and graduated Officer Candidate School, Airborne School and Ranger School, all at Fort Benning, Ga.
His next duty station will be Fort Bragg, N.C.
He is the son of Daryle Palmer of Oxford, Ga., and Karen Palmer of Houschton, Ga.
He graduated from Valdosta State University in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice.
Army Pvt. Luis A. Rodriguez Jr. has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Knox, Ky.
Rodriguez is the son of Luis A. Rodriguez of Highway 376, and Jesusita V. Rodriguez of Porter Road, both of Lake Park, Ga.
He is a 2009 graduate of Echols County High School, Statenville.
Rhodes graduates Officer Candidate School
Dwayne Rhodes has graduated from Officer Candidate School (OCS) at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga., and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army.
Rhodes, a healthcare specialist (combat medic) with 15 years of military service, is assigned to Fort Bragg, Fayetteville, N.C.
He is the son of Frank Ewings of Valdosta.
His wife, Erika, is the daughter of Rose Hoy of Brooklyn, N.Y.
The lieutenant graduated in 1990 from Paul Robeson High School, Brooklyn, and received a bachelor's degree in 2007 from Touro University, Columbus.

Sharper Fest 2010 scheduled for this weekend
