Lake Park festival, parade coming Saturday

By Matt Flumerfelt

LAKE PARK — The Lake Park Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the city’s annual Christmas Parade and Downtown Festival on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.

Festival vendors and activities will be set up on Essa Street in Downtown Lake Park, said Michelle Mullins, chamber executive director. The parade is set to begin at 3:30 p.m.

Mullins said that there will be a great variety of vendors and activities, including arts and crafts, food, pony rides, bounce houses, face painting, the Barnyard Petting Zoo, and many others.

Santa Claus will be there taking Christmas gift requests from children. The band Mainstream will perform an upbeat blend of classic Pop, Rock and Country tunes.

The theme of this year’s festival and parade is A Classic Christmas — “going back to how it used to be,” Mullins said.

Members from several area churches will have homemade cakes and other baked goods for sale. Judges will announce who had the best floats and award trophies immediately following the parade, she added.
