VALDOSTA — Individuals wishing to enter a short film into the annual Causes Film Festival must do so by Friday, Jan. 1. Members of the Valdosta State University and the local community are invited to enter Valdosta's mini film festival. Each 90-second documentary must highlight a cause — such as homelessness, education, racism or women's issues — with a Valdosta focus.
Last year, Kelly Murray created a documentary about the unnecessary waste created by bottled water. Her short film can be viewed at www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyTT662A0sI.
Participants are encouraged to be thoughtful and creative, while using powerful visuals to explain their causes. The most passionate directors will receive cash prizes. Organizers will upload approved submissions to YouTube for viewing during the 7 p.m. opening night celebration on Saturday, Jan. 23 at VSU.
