VALDOSTA —
Valdosta Police officers started off the week with the arrest of two assailants in two seemingly unrelated incidents of residential burglary Monday afternoon and early Tuesday morning.
A foot chase ensued after authorities received reports of a male wearing a white tank shirt and camouflage pants who was forcing his way into a residence in the 800 block of South John Street around 4 p.m. on Monday, reports stated.
Police intially made contact with the man as he fled and they commanded him to stop, according to reports. The man eluded officers for a short period, but he was reportedly found hiding under a car nearby.
The suspect, Asa B. Balloon, 17, was arrested and charged with burglary and obstruction of a law enforcement officer, reports stated. Balloon has been detained in the Lowndes County Jail and bail has been set at $15,000.
In a second incident, a man was arrested by police around 2 a.m. Tuesday morning after he allegedly robbed an acquaintance of roughly $770, reports stated. The suspect had been drinking, according to police, and fled the residence in the 1800 block of Clubhouse Drive but was apprehended later at his home.
Jose Martinez Palomar, 39, was arrested and charged with robbery by force and sudden snatching, attempting to elude an officer and driving under the influence, said police.
He was transported to the Lowndes County Jail and bail has been set at $2,500.
