VALDOSTA —
A woman was stabbed to death and a second has been charged with murder after a dispute between the two women turned violent Monday shortly after 10 p.m. at a residence in the 500 block of Old Statenville Road.
Witnesses advised responding officers that the two women had been arguing before one woman began stabbing the other, reports stated.
Yvonne Smith, 56, was found unresponsive on the back porch of the residence and multiple stab wounds could be observed, reports stated. Resuscitation efforts on the scene were in vain and Smith was pronounced dead at South Georgia Medial Center's emergency room
Belinda Gail Grimmage, 49, was located near her residence, reports stated. She was taken to the Valdosta Police Department for an interview, according to reports, and was transported to the Lowndes County Jail for booking and detainment.
Grimmage has been charged with murder and her bond has been revoked, reports stated.
Detectives from the Valdosta Police Department Persons Crime Unit and a Crime Scene Technician from the Valdosta-Lowndes Crime Lab responded to investigate, according to reports.
