REMERTON —
With 61.9 percent of the vote, or 13 votes, Jasen Lee Tatum will serve the remainder of Lydia Day’s term on the Remerton City Council.
Tatum defeated Chris McReady, who received 28.57 percent of the vote, or six votes.
Tatum will assume his position on the council as soon as he can be sworn into office.
A date for that was not known at press time.
Day’s four-year term began in January of 2008 and was scheduled to end in December 2011. She resigned on Oct. 5, 2009, when she relocated out of the area.
Election results are not official until certified by the Lowndes County Board of Elections on Friday. Officials still had military ballots and provisional ballots left to count at press time. Those numbers will be included in the official results.
