Fans of the TV soap “All My Children” can hear a familiar voice Tuesday evening at Valdosta State University.
Musician Dave Barnes’ pop “God Gave Me You” was part of characters Jake and Amanda’s wedding on the long-running ABC soap opera.
“Being on the set ... was really cool,” Barnes says on his website. “I really actually enjoyed. I really stayed longer than I was supposed to.”
He says it was also terrifying because he is a singer/songwriter and wanted to get his lines right.
Barnes has also been gaining attention on the live tour circuit, playing his own shows, as well as opening for acts such as Lady Antebellum.
Barnes couples a talent for a pop hooks and beats with a pop star’s looks, all packaged with a self-deprecating sense of humor.
Dave Barnes’ show is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, VSU University Center, off North Patterson Street. Admission: Free.
