Police: 1 dead in shooting at hospital in Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. — Authorities say one person is dead after a shooting at University Hospital in Augusta, and a suspect is in custody.

The Augusta Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/P7WYaS ) the shooting occurred Tuesday on the seventh floor of the hospital.

Hospital spokeswoman Rebecca Sylvester told the Chronicle the shooting happened in a patient’s room and involved two family members. Sylvester says the suspect surrendered to hospital security.
