Jewell Bennett Sapp, 70, of Jennings, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Ga., following a brief illness. Jewell was born in Echols County, Ga., on June 3, 1942, to the late Clifford and Ida Deloach Bennett. She was a homemaker and was a member of Harvest Fellowship Church. Jewell had a tough exterior and gained the respect of those she came in contact with. She is remembered by those that knew her well as a loving and generous mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and friend that took care of her own. She had a larger than life personality and a heart to match it.
Jewell was predeceased by her husband, George Billy Sapp; and a son, George Billy Sapp Jr.
Survivors include two daughters, Sylvia Rhames (Ronnie), Valdosta, and Julie Sapp, Jennings, Fla.; one son, Rodney Hudson, Jennings, Fla..; one brother, Alfred Bennett, Barney, Ga.; and one sister, Carolyn Gritz, Jennings, Fla.; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home, Jasper, Fla.
Interment will follow in Staten Cemetery near Statenville, Ga.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. — Harry T. Reid Funeral Home, Jasper, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.
