Willie Gene Wilson

- — Willie Gene Wilson, 70, was born to Isaac D. Wilson and Oneal Wilson on Dec. 5, 1941, in Morven, Ga. He graduated from Washington Street High School in 1960. Soon after graduation, he headed south and moved to Orlando, Fla., to work for one year while living with his Uncle Alzo and Aunt Nesper. Then he moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1962, where he worked for the Cleveland Range company. The next year in 1963, Willie moved his entire family from Georgia to Cleveland, Ohio. On Jan. 9, 1965, he married Christine May and this marriage united three sons, Gregory A. Manning, Anthony C. Wilson and Lorenzo C. Wilson. Willie and Christine moved the family from Cleveland to Westland, Mich., in 1977. Willie and Christine were married for 30 years until she passed in May 1995. Willie remarried Joyce Green in May 1998, and this marriage added five children, Dawn Hebron, Randy Green, Dana Green, Michael Green and Evelyn Green. Willie retired from the Detroit Lyme company in 2004, and he and Joyce moved to Adel, Ga., in 2005. Joyce was devoted to his care and welfare to the very end when the sun set on his life Sept. 5, 2012.

He leaves to treasure his legacy his loving wife Joyce; three sons, Gregory Manning of Florida, Anthony C. Wilson (Sheri) of Georgia, Lorenzo Wilson of Michigan; five stepchildren, Dawn Hebron, Randy Green, Dana Green (Lisa), Michael Green, and Evelyn Green, all of Michigan; eight siblings, Barbara Lewis of Valdosta, Mildred Windham (Jerry), Dobbie Miller, Sally Milton (Monroe), Wanda Kirks, Ira Joyce Wilson, Thornton Wilson, Marion Wilson (Deborah), all of Ohio. Two brothers and one sister preceded Willie in death, Isaac Thompson, Clarence Wilson, and Ruth Ford. Willie also leaves two uncles, Charles English and Dozier English of Ohio, 13 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; two godchildren; and innumerable nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and loving friends.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at the Morven City Auditorium in Morven, Ga., with Dr. Norman Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the New Macedonia Church Cemetery in Morven. Public viewing and visitation will be held on today at the Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home from 1-9 p.m.

The Wilson family will receive relatives and friends for dinner from 4-9 p.m. on Friday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Wilson in Adel, Ga. — Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
