Jewell Godwin, 82, Quitman, Ga., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at her residence. She was born in Leesburg, Fla., on Dec. 6, 1929, to the late Jessie James and Luvenia (Knight) Addison. Mrs. Godwin was a member of Church of the Nazarene in Quitman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Godwin; and her son, Stephen Smithie.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Glenn Hall, Moultrie, Linda and Ben Terry, Quitman; six sons and daughters-in-law, James Smithie, Valdosta, John and Gladys Smithie, Valdosta, Billy Smithie, Quitman, Jerry and Christine Smithie, Quitman, Elwood and Sonya Godwin, Lake Park, Harvey Godwin Jr., Quitman; 19 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial to follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
