Johnny “Ward” Hesters, 87 of Valdosta passed away Monday, Sept. 10, 2012 in the Memorial Hospital of Adel, Ga. He was born on Aug. 6, 1925 in Ware County, Ga. to the late Troy Eddie and Lillie (Jordan) Hesters. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Hesters.
Mr. Hesters is survived by his loving wife and soul mate of 64 years: Maude Hesters of Valdosta; son and daughter-in-law, James and Charlotte Hesters, Hahira; daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Danny Godwin, Cleveland, Ga.; grandchildren and spouses, Deena and Allen Evans, James Channing Godwin, J.J. and Kelly Hesters, Jodi and Ben Brannen; great-grandchildren, Robby Evans, Rachel Evans, Kayden Hesters, Hampton Hesters; sisters, Hazel Wetherington, Valdosta, Jessie Hurtt, Valdosta; sister-in-law, Charlotte Hamby, Hilton Head, S.C., Ann Scozinski, Hotchkiss, Colo.; extended family members, Debbie, Jerry, Evan, Dena, and Dana Rumker and several other extended family members.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012 in Riverview Memorial Gardens in Valdosta, Ga. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. this evening, Sept. 11, 2012 at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or you may make a donation to a charity of your choice.
