Wilson V. Crosby

VALDOSTA — Wilson V. Crosby, 61, of Echols County, passed away on Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at South Georgia Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was born in Thomasville, Ga., on Jan. 20, 1951, to the late Dan S. and Bertha Richardson Crosby and had been a resident of this area all his life. He was a self-employed logger and was of the Pentecostal faith. Wilson was a devoted husband and loving Daddy and Pa.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Dona Mae Crosby; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tanker and Amy Crosby and Rocky and Melissa Crosby; two daughters and a son-in-law, Angela Crosby and Darlene and Brian Herndon, all of Echols County; eight grandchildren, Trevor Crosby, Broxton Crosby, Aubren Crosby, Colton Crosby, Keelee Crosby, Brinson Herndon, Gracie Herndon, and Lexie Herndon, all of Echols County; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter and Peggy Crosby and Dan and Aline Crosby, all of Echols County; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Crosby of Echols County and Danyette and Steve Deacon of Valdosta; mother-in-law, Idona Thornton of Echols County; two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Edna and Don Carter and Carolyn and Jim Harnage ; two brothers-in-law and their wives, Jerry and Linda Thornton and Keith and Jackie Thornton, all of Echols County; lifelong friends, Lorey and Idell Register of Valdosta; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Crosby; four sisters, Kathy Crosby, Faye Sali, Ann Crosby Trice and Christine Beaty; father-in-law, R.J. Thornton.

Service for Wilson Crosby will be held at 2 p.m., today, Sept. 13, 2012, at Sardis Baptist Church in Echols County. Burial will follow in Enoch Creek Cemetery. The Rev. Leonard Harnage, the Rev. Edgar Wood and Pastor Mike Townsend will officiate. The family received friends Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park.
